All the South Okanagan First Nation bands, the Ooknakane Friendship Center, and many other Penticton and area residents joined today at Gyro Park in Penticton to celebrate Canada’s annual Aboriginal Day.  Activities included a Pow-Wow, children’s activities, the fifth annual 5 km family walk along Okanagan Lake to encourage health and wellness, food vendors, aboriginal arts and crafts vendors, and lots of awesome entertainment. Performers included Mike Gouchie, the Highwater Drummers, Aimee Lezard, and other excellent aboriginal musicians, dancers and singers.  Indian tacos, bannock, and a delicious salmon feast topped off the strong sense of community at the event.
